The Art of Burning Solace Beeswax Candles
Like any art, safe and effective candle burning takes practice. To help you master the art of burning Solace Beeswax Pillar Candles, we have provided you with simple, easy-to-follow instructions.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE LIGHTING YOUR CANDLE
Enjoying your Candle
Feel the peace and purity your candle's flame is emitting into the environment. The golden halo around the wick is a divine energy that raises the energetic vibration of the room while cleansing the air.
Take time to thank the honeybee for its timeless harvest. For without it, your candle would not be here.
Caring for your Candle
Lighting your Candle: ensure a slow, peaceful flame each time you light your candle.
Place your candle on a level surface away from drafts and out of the reach of children and pets.
Trim the wick to 1/8" before lighting your candle. This can be done by breaking the hardened wick with your fingers or using scissors. Each wick has been trimmed to the proper size when purchased.
Tilt your candle slightly when lighting. This allows the flame to get under the base of the wick for easy lighting.
Make sure the wick is centred. If it is not, light your candle until a small wax pool has been created and carefully centre your wick. Do not attempt to centre a wick where the wax pool has hardened, as this will break the wick. The best time to centre the wick is after you extinguish it (see below section: Extinguishing your Candle).
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Candle Maintenance: ensure a long, safe and effective life for your candle.
Maintaining your candle requires simple monitoring and management of your candle's wick and molten wax pool. Below are simple, yet detailed instructions that will help you easily and effectively maintain your candle.
The height of the wick determines the size of the flame, which in turn influences how quickly the wax is consumed. The longer the wick, the larger the flame, the quicker the wax is consumed. For optimal results, maintain the height of your wick to approximately 1/8". This can be done by:
- trimming the wick to 1/8" in height. (Never place the wick debris into the wax pool)
- gently pushing down on the top of the wick to spread open the fibres. This is especially useful if the wick has just been trimmed
- raising the level of the wax pool:
- A Solace Beeswax Pillar Candle will melt close to the edge, leaving a soft wax wall around the perimeter. By gently folding these walls into the pool of molten wax you can raise the level of the wax pool, thus shortening the wick without having to trim it. Be careful not to flood the wick and extinguish the flame. If you do happen to flood the wick, carefully pour out some of the wax pool and relight. Use caution and do not touch the hot wax pool
- Adding recycled beeswax to the molten wax pool. Again, be careful not to flood and extinguish the wick
Remove any debris from the wax pool to ensure smooth consumption of nature's perfect fuel.
Recommended Minimum Burn-Time and Maintenance Frequency
As a guideline, always allow the molten wax pool to melt close to the outer edge each time your candle is lit.
- 2": 1 Hour
- 3": 2-3 Hours
Extinguishing your Candle: a perfect close to a burning session ensures a peaceful flame each time you light your candle.
Tipping a burning wick into and then out of the wax pool is the most effective way to extinguish your candle's wick. Use a heat-resistant tool to do this; do not touch the hot wax and wick. This method will eliminate smoking and ensure an easy light the next time you use your candle. NEVER blow out a candle.
